Who we are

Invicta means unconquered or invincible. It’s the county motto for Kent, England where Invicta Education began. The name comes from the Normal Invasion of England in 1066. The story goes that William of Normandy in his conquest of England after the Battle of Hastings, passed through Kent on the way to London, where his men were attacked and fled, leaving Kent unconquered. The spirit of Invicta—determined, independent, and resilient—reflects what we help students become in their own learning.

Invicta Education was founded by Ben Finch, an experienced teacher and learning coach who grew up in Kent. After earning a degree in History and Politics, Ben trained to teach History at Canterbury Christ Church University. Over the next decade, he guided hundreds of students through their national, standardised GCSE and A-Level exams, helping them not only master content and skills, but also to understand how to learn effectively.

Alongside his classroom role, Ben worked as a Learning Manager, leading cohorts of students through their full educational journey—teaching them how to plan for success, manage their time, study strategically, and handle setbacks with confidence. These experiences shaped his belief that great learning isn’t just about ability, but about developing the skills, work habits and mindset that allow students to thrive.

Now based in the mountains of British Columbia, Ben brings his classroom expertise and passion for learning to students across Vancouver and beyond—helping them build stronger study habits, greater self-confidence, and a proactive approach to their education.

Outside of the classroom, in England Ben spent many years as a competitive rower, often participating at Henley Royal Regatta, or on his road bike struggling up mountains in France. Ben can now be found enjoying life in the Mountains of BC, skiing, mountain biking, and hiking with his dog Goose.
